Sofie was born in Los Angeles, raised in various cities across the states and has even lived abroad in Vienna. She currently manages the Los Angeles branch of Boiler Room, an online music platform that streams live sessions by emerging artists. The internationally popular project has hosted intimate shows in dozens of cities across the globe.
Your idea of happiness?
On a roof at sunset in northeast L.A. with two of my favorite people on this planet reimagining ourselves as beings from an alternate universe. Or driving around listening to music in the passenger seat of my man’s G-Wag.
Your idea of misery?
If not yourself, who would you be?
An artist of the rap persuasion.
What is your present state of mind?
It’s forever shifting. I’m constantly figuring out ways to better myself mentally; trying to get myself to be less outwardly reactive to things.

Gorilla, My love by Toni Cade Bambara; Kann das Leiden jemals enden? By Jiddu Krishnamurti (german transcript of his Washington talks, my mom gave this to me and jeez it’s good); The Wretched of the Earth by Fantz Fanon.
What do you do if you can’t sleep at night?
Lay in bed, daydream and watch my brain run wild with ideas, if that doesn’t tire me out I get up and try to write or search for music on the internet. Binaural meditation been pretty good to me lately, too.
Do you collect anything?
Records, tapes (can never have enough DJ Squeeky), and stones.
What is the strangest thing you believed in as a child?
Either that I was in love with Casper the Friendly Ghost and we’d run away together or that airplane toilets had the potential to suck your insides out.
What are your plans for this weekend?
Maybe go to this show, maybe just clean my apartment.
