Your idea of happiness?

On a roof at sunset in northeast L.A. with two of my favorite people on this planet reimagining ourselves as beings from an alternate universe. Or driving around listening to music in the passenger seat of my man’s G-Wag.

Your idea of misery?

Giving in.

If not yourself, who would you be?

An artist of the rap persuasion.

Your heroes?

Mike Tyson.

What is your present state of mind?

It’s forever shifting. I’m constantly figuring out ways to better myself mentally; trying to get myself to be less outwardly reactive to things.

Bedside table books?

Gorilla, My love by Toni Cade Bambara; Kann das Leiden jemals enden? By Jiddu Krishnamurti (german transcript of his Washington talks, my mom gave this to me and jeez it’s good); The Wretched of the Earth by Fantz Fanon.

What do you do if you can’t sleep at night?

Lay in bed, daydream and watch my brain run wild with ideas, if that doesn’t tire me out I get up and try to write or search for music on the internet. Binaural meditation been pretty good to me lately, too.

Do you collect anything?

Records, tapes (can never have enough DJ Squeeky), and stones.

What is the strangest thing you believed in as a child?

Either that I was in love with Casper the Friendly Ghost and we’d run away together or that airplane toilets had the potential to suck your insides out.

Favorite color?

Favorite city?

Los Angeles.

What are your plans for this weekend?

Maybe go to this show, maybe just clean my apartment.

Favorite song?

“Song of Aeolus” by Soft Machine.

Right or left-handed?

What is the best dish you can cook?

I really kill it with some cup noodles.

What is your middle name?

I don’t have a middle name, but my full first name is Demeter Sofie.

What do you do in your free time?

Make things, listen to music, smoke.
