Mar Peidro

Stylist, Los Angeles

Disposable Magazine x Urban Outfitters

Mar Peidro is a stylist from Barcelona living in Los Angeles. She was always into fashion, and she feels that she chose styling as a career as much as it chose her. She finds that styling as work allows for a lifestyle full of improvisation and good times.

Where are you from originally and what brought you to LA?

I am from Barcelona and love (and adventure) brought me to LA.

How did you start styling and was it always your vocation?

I don’t think styling was or is my vocation per se, but it’s something that I can do well and I enjoy. And most important allows for a lifestyle full of improvisation and good times.

I was always into fashion one or another way, but I didn’t really make styling my career until clients started booking me. So I guess the career chose me. Almost every day, I had early morning coffee with 2 of my best friends who happened to be photographers. The 3 of us would meet at LaMill or sometimes Tropicana right before heading to our respective full-time jobs. They wanted to start shooting more fashion and asked me to style some shots that got a nice response, and we all started booking shoots shortly after.

Who is your ultimate Icon when it comes to style?

Carrie Bradshaw was the first figure that made me believe that there was such thing as having a career in fashion. I probably wouldn’t stand behind any of her actual styles, but I admire her bravery and determination. I think she is my ultimate Icon because she made me believe.

Being in contact with amazing fashion pieces on a daily basis, do you sometimes think about creating your own line?

All the time! Although not because I work with great fashion, but because there are pieces that I envision for specific projects and I am not able to find anywhere.

I never believed in the magical figures that were supposed to bring you gifts at night like Santa or the tooth fairy, but I did believe that a “bad guy” was going to break into my bedroom and hurt me at night… so I’ve always had a defense and escape plan ready no matter where I am.

A fashion show and a friend’s housewarming party on Saturday. A petit comité home cooked dinner party and perhaps a drink after with a friend who’s visiting from Mexico on Sunday.
